Development of a rapid and simple protocol for oil quantification of small (mg) mass oil seed samples
One hundred mg of ground chia and mid oil content Jack soybean seeds, with less than 10% moisture, were used to compare total oil extraction by the Folch, Bligh and Dyer and the hexane-isopropanol (HIP) methods against the standard Soxhlet method.
In view of the growing demand for vegetable oils and fats, currently exploration of some under-utilized and non-conventional oil seed crops is of great concern. This work presents data on the detailed physicochemical and antioxidant attributes of kapok (Ceiba pentandra Gaertn.) seed oil. The kapok seeds contained an appreciable amount of oil (27.5 %), protein (35.0 %) and fiber (19.0 %). The

The extracted kapok seed oil (KSO) had an iodine value of 101.8 g of I 2 /100 g of oil, a saponification value of 187 mg of KOH/g of oil), and unsaponifiable matter 0.83 %. KSO also showed a good oxidation state as indicated by the measurements of the peroxide value, conjugated dienes, conjugated trienes, para -anisidine and the induction period (Rancimat method).
Effect of feed particle size and solvent flow rate on soybean oil extraction in a percolation type extractor | Journal of Food Science - Springer
The influence of particle size and solvent flow rate on the kinetics of oil extraction from soybean (eight fractions from 0.433 to 0.122 mm) was studied using hexane, simulating commercial percolation type extractor. The reduction in particle size from 0.433 mm to 0.141 mm showed an increase in the oil yield. However, further reduction to 0.129 mm and 0.122 mm affected the yield due to bed
Ceiba Pentandra or Kapok seed is one of the suitable and reliable non-edible feedstock for biodiesel production. A soxhlet extraction was used as a conventional way to extract oil from the seeds
Ultrasonic acoustic-cavitation as a novel and emerging energy efficient technique for oil extraction from kapok seeds | Request PDF
Agreeable results were reported for Kapok seed oil with a 92.3% of oil recovery from UAE under a shorter extraction time of 10 min than solvent extraction by agitation (5.7 h) and SXE (8 h). More
The ultrasound has given promising results in oil extraction for many oil-bearing vegetables, fruits, and flower seeds; for instance, pomegranate, kapok, and papaya seeds [5–7]. Most UAE studies demonstrated increased oil yield without modifying the oil profile; evidently, UAE resulted in 32.27% increased yield from papaya oil compared to 25.27% from Soxhlet whilst maintaining similar
