SOPA | The Soybean Processors Association of India
The Soybean Processors Association of India, popularly known as SOPA, is the only national level body representing the soybean processors, farmers, exporters and brokers in India working towards the aim to strengthen soybeans as a viable crop. The main objective of SOPA is to encourage the development and promotion of Soy-Based products in the
The start of commercial exploitation of soybean in India is nearly four decades old. In this period, the crop has shown unparallel growth in area and production. Soybean has established itself as a major rainy season crop in the rainfed agro-ecosystem of central and peninsular India. Introduction of soybean has resulted in an enhancement in the cropping intensity and resultant increase in the
Technologies for extraction of oil from oilseeds and other plant
Practical applications. Limited land availability and growing demands for vegetable oils call for the development of improved cultivars for harnessing higher yields as well as more efficient oil extraction technologies to augment oil recovery from different oilseed crops without compromising with the oil quality.
The pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) was assessed by Mello et al. [102] using methyl acetate as a solvent to extract crambe seed oil. A higher extraction yield was achieved than n-hexane and ethanol in Soxhlet extraction. Still, the soybean oil extraction using the same method with ethanol was performed by Rodrigues et al. [103].

121.21 lakh ha area which is6.4%higher than last year’s area and 9.9% higher than the normal sown area in the country (Table 2). The increase of soybean area this year was recorded mainly in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Table 2: Sown area of soybean in India as on 18.09.2020 (Lakh Ha)
Production of soybeans expanded from the southern part of the United States. 1950-70's. The U.S. accounted for more than 75% of global soybean production. 1970's. Production of soybean started at a large scale in many South American countries. 2003. The share of the U.S. in global soybean production came down to 34%.
Solvent Extractor's Association of India – The Premier Association
The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India was formed in 1963 to help and foster the development and growth of Solvent Extraction Industry in India. At present the Association is having 875 members including about 350 working solvent extraction plants having combined oilcake/oilseed processing annual capacity of about 30 million tonnes.
In India, soybean crop particularly those derived from crosses involving one of the parent as EC 538,828 was found to have higher 100 seed A., Mundt, F. Factoextra: Extract and
- How much soybean is produced in India?
- As per the first advance estimates, soybean production of India is estimated at 13.53 million tonnes from 12.06 million haarea in 2020-21. The fourth advance estimate for the year 2019-20 has been revised downwards from 13.51 million tonnes to 11.22 million tonnes from 12.09 million ha area (Table 3).
- Can soybean be used as a cultivated crop in India?
- The adoption of appropriate soil moisture technologies also needs to be promoted. The research efforts in India towards introduction of soybean as a cultivated crop were initiated in 1963-64 with feasibility trials conducted at Pantnagar and Jabalpur using Bragg, Clark-63, Davis, Lee, and others (Agarwal, et. al. 2010).
- What is the current scenario of soybean production in India?
- 2. Current Scenario in India Soybean production in India during 2020-21 is estimated to be 13.58 million tons from an area of 12.12 million ha and a productivity of 1125 kg/ha as per 1stadvance estimates of DAC&FW as compared to production of 11.22 million tons from an area of 11.39 million ha and productivity of 1015 kg/ha in 2019-20.
