Step 1: Cleaning. After harvesting groundnut are received at processing facilities. Batches of harvested peanuts will contain whole peanuts in the shell, some shelled peanuts, and foreign objects (e.g., leaves, nodes, weed seed, etc.). The peanuts are then cleaned using cleaning machine so that oil is not contaminated with foreign materials.
The by-product from the oil extraction of groundnut (groundnut cake) serves as animal feedstuff (Alemayehu Chala et al., 2014). The yield of groundnuts in Ethiopia compared to other countries is extremely low, i.e., below 1.49 t ha −1 ( CSA, 2021 ), as compared to average yields on a global scale, i.e., 1.65 t ha −1 ( FAO, 2021 ).

Groundnut Oil Mill Plant
Groundnut Kernels obtained after the Decortication process can be used as a raw material for Groundnut Oil Extraction Plant. Groundnut Kernels contain 40 – 45 % oil content. After a double stage pressing, about 5 – 7 % residual oil is left in the Groundnut meal which is an excellent source of Animal Feed.
