Empowering Agriculture: The Rise of Farmer-Owned Sunflower
The concept of farmer-owned processing machines is simple yet profound. Instead of relying on external entities, farmers pool their resources to invest in a communal processing facility. This facility, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, enables farmers to transform raw sunflower seeds into high-quality oil on-site.
Widespread adoption of improved seed is one important driver of increased production of sunflower oil in Tanzania, already one of the largest producers of the crop in Africa. And with sunflower processors investing in more than 50,000 metric tons of processing capacity, demand for sunflower from farmers is increasing. Setting up for change at scale
Sunflower Oil Production Equipment Cost in Tanzania | Africa
The sunflower oil refinery machine price is decided by the capacity, construction materials and more. Typically, the 1tpd to 30tpd small sunflower oil refining plant may cost $21,000~$115,000. However, the exact cost should be based on the capaicty and the equipment requirements.
March 7, 2022. 3 minute read. The African Seed Access Index (TASAI) has just released the final version of its Tanzania Country Report 2021 in which it highlights that sunflower has an enormous potential in Tanzania, as it grows well in all regions, even in areas with low rainfall. TASAI monitors indicators that are essential to seed sector

Tanzania’s sunflower oil producers come into bloom. With an annual output of around 350,000 tons of sunflower oilseeds, corresponding to about 90,000 tons of oil, Tanzania is one of the top ten sunflower oilseed producers in the world. Sunflowers are grown all over the country, mostly by small-scale farmers.
