The sunflower (Helianthus annus L.), belonging to the Asteraceae family, is an annual crop plant.In terms of production, it is the third-most oilseed produced in the world, the fourth-most important culture in vegetable oil production and the third-most important culture in oilseed meal production; among other protein sources (Dantas et al., 2017; Pilorgé, 2020).
Hulls are a by-product of sunflower oil processing and of confectionary seeds dehulling process. The hullability and protein concentration traits are now more important to consider for meal production in animal nutrition and some variability was observed among commercial varieties (Dauguet et al., 2016).
