The solid material released by the expeller, termed “canola cake”, contains 15-30% (w/w) of residual oil depending on the expeller’s quality and capacity (Gaber et al. 2020; Gaber et al. 2018). Pressed seeds yield 70% (w/w) of crude oil and the rest is recovered by hexane extraction (Wickramasuriya et al. 2015; Aliakbarian et al. 2008).
