Recent advances in green soybean oil extraction: A review
According to USDA [1], the production of soybeans worldwide in 2020/2021 was about 360,000 thousand metric tons. The soybean seeds are mainly destined for protein, edible oil, and biodiesel production. The main components of the seeds are proteins (40 wt%), lipids (20 wt%), carbohydrates (15 wt%), and ashes (5 wt%).
The oil recovery efficiency was 72% which results in the annual soybean oil productivity. corresponding to these 6 scales are 4.10, 12.81, 25.62, 89.67, 175.56 and 398.67 million kg, respectively
Recent advances in green soybean oil extraction: A review
Soybean oil extraction at the boiling point of p-cymene gave a yield of 31.63 1.50 g/g DM compared to 24.28 1.11 g/g DM for n-hexane. The extraction yield for n-hexane is in line with the

Comparison of neomycin production from Streptomyces-Fradiae cultivation using soybean oil as the sole carbon source in an airlift bioreactor and a stirred-tank reactor.
Physical and oxidative stability of pre-emulsified oil bodies extracted
Introduction. Soybean is an extremely valuable crop around the world, and is commonly used as a source of soybean oil. Soybean oil contains 12–15% saturated fatty acids (mostly palmitic) and 85–88% unsaturated fatty acids (mostly oleic, linoleic, and linolenic) (Ribeiro, Grimaldi, Gioielli, & Gon alves, 2009).
After standard aqueous extraction, the soybean oil bodies (SOBs) acquire a second protein layer consisting mainly of lipoxygenase, glycinin, β-conglycinin and Bd 30K/P34. As part of the construction of many food products, SOBs have been extensively studied to understand their properties and interactions with other components to replace the traditional oil-in-water emulsions.
Catalytic Fast Pyrolysis of Soybean Straw Biomass for Glycolaldehyde
In this study, soybean straw (SS) as a promising source of glycolaldehyde-rich bio-oil production and extraction was investigated. Proximate and ultimate analysis of SS was performed to examine the feasibility and suitability of SS for thermochemical conversion design. The effect of the co-catalyst (CaCl2 + ash) on glycolaldehyde concentration (%) was examined. Thermogravimetric-Fourier
Thysicochemical characterization of the soybean oil (Billo19 and Keta)variety was obtained with the mean value was:-acid value (2.914 mg KOH/ g), free fatty acid value (0.2914 %), saponification
- Which solvent is used in soybean oil production?
- Solvent extraction and expelling are the main processes used in soybean oil production. Hexane is currently the leading solvent in extraction , . This solvent has a high solubility for oil extraction, availability, low price, low boiling point, and heat of vaporization .
- How is soybean oil extracted in a continuous and countercurrent process?
- Extraction of soybean oil in a continuous and countercurrent process. Multistage extraction was experimentally reproduced from batch single-stage assays. The process efficiency was mainly limited by the oil solubility in the solvent. The minimum solvent mass flow and the number of ideal stages were calculated.
- Can green solvents be used in soybean oil extraction?
- The application of green solvents in soybean oil extraction is reviewed. Hansen parameters and COSMO-based models can serve as a solvent selection tool. Direct substitution of hexane with green solvents is the most promising alternative. Kinetic models and the thermodynamic assessment are analyzed comprehensively.
- How to extract soybean oil?
- Soybean oil can be obtained by expelling or using an organic solvent. Although, the employment of solvent will always follow the expelling to increase lipid extraction yield .
